It costs about the same as a couple of coffees or a few rolls of hockey tape, but the extra energy it brings to the rink is well worth it!
P.S. The app's core features are always free. Even without a pass, you can still call every game using your device's standard built-in voice. You'll just need to enter rosters manually and won't have access to the premium arena-quality AI voices.

Can Hockey Voice replace a live rink announcer?
Yes — Hockey Voice is designed to be a full hockey rink announcer in your pocket. It handles every role a live PA announcer would: goal announcer, penalty announcer, roster announcer, and score announcer. Many minor hockey teams and arenas without a dedicated announcer use it to bring a professional game-day feel to every game.
What does Hockey Voice do?
Hockey Voice turns your Android phone into a PA announcer for local hockey games. It announces goals, penalties, and scores in a professional arena voice so you can focus on the game instead of a microphone. It is now available for download on the Google Play Store.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. The app falls back to your device's built-in text-to-speech engine and works fully offline. Premium Voice and Scanning rosters require an internet connection to generate AI audio.
What is Premium Voice?
Premium Voice uses an AI model to generate high-quality, natural-sounding arena announcements. It sounds just like a real person!
How does roster import work?
Take a photo of your game sheet and Hockey Voice will automatically extract player names, numbers, and positions. You review and confirm the results before saving. This feature requires an internet connection, but it saves you so much time. It even works with rosters handwritten on the game sheet (except for doctor's writing).
What if a player has a name that AI struggles to pronounce correctly?
There's an "Announce as" field for each player where you can spell a name phonetically to help the AI get it right.
What happens if the AI voice is unavailable mid-game?
The app automatically falls back to your device's built-in voice so announcements never stop. You'll see a brief notification when this happens.
Is my game sheet photo stored anywhere?
Photos are sent to a server only for roster extraction and are not stored after processing. No player data leaves your device after the roster is saved.
Does it work for other sports?
It's designed specifically for hockey — positions, penalty types, and announcement phrasing are all hockey-specific. Please sign up for our waitlist if you'd like to be notified when we release versions for other sports.
Is it available on iPhone?
Currently Android only. We'll be adding an iOS app once we gather feedback from the Android version. You can join our iOS waitlist to be notified of the release.
Why can't the app play music?
Acquiring licensing rights for music is not viable at this point, and streaming services like Spotify do not allow their music to be played at arenas through an app like this. Hockey Voice will work alongside your background music and will automatically duck the volume when announcements are made.
